Dear Valued Customers and Partners:

Welcome to the first issue of the MasterLink eConsultant quarterly enewsletter. Our hope is that this tool will enable us to better communicate initiatives and changes taking place within our organization. We will also share with you any insight our experts can provide on industry and technology trends.

Our consulting services continue to expand as customer needs change; clients have demonstrated a strong demand for assistance with information risk management. In this issue you will read various articles relating to risk and security, and questions you may wish to consider as they relate to your own business. We also hope that you will be able to join us on February 27 for our conference Information Risk Management: From the Boardroom to the Techroom. Details and registration information are available within this newsletter and on our website at www.emasterlink.com.

Although our services will continue to evolve as new challenges emerge, please be assured that there is one thing at MasterLink that will never change: our focus on our clients and our commitment to quality. To that end, if you have any comments or suggestions about the enewsletter or MasterLink itself, please forward them to econsultant@emasterlink.com.

Business Impact Analysis
by Maggie Knight, Director – Business Infrastructure and BCP/DR Services

A business impact analysis (BIA) is a process utilized by companies to identify the effect of external and internal impacts upon the business functions within your organization. This process will help to establish which business functions are the most critical to your company’s survival in the event of a failure or business disruption. It is only by identifying and understanding risk and impact of various scenarios to your business that you will get a full picture of your vulnerabilities. This in turn will allow you to focus your technology and business planning and spending.

Business Continuity and
Disaster Recovery Planning
by Virginia Kramer, Director of Unified Communications and Operations Services

Each year our IT infrastructures become increasingly critical to the daily operations of an organization.  Failure of a single component or catastrophic scenarios can be crippling, and if there are no contingency plans, they can destroy the business beyond repair.

Information Risk Management:

Join us at the Wyndham Milwaukee Airport on February 27 for a full-day conference designed to educate business and technology professionals about strategies and tactics they can employee to create stronger synergies within their organization and more effectively address risk.

The conference will begin with a keynote address from Chris Squier on “Closing the Breach: Solutions from a Business IT Perspective.” Chris Squier (CISSP) is the Information Security Advisor, Educator and Advocate for the Fortune 500 listed Ingram Micro, the world’s largest IT Logistics and Distribution Company. He travels extensively throughout North America speaking to organizations of all sizes on the subjects of information and holistic security.

In addition to the keynote address, there will be individual risk oriented breakout sessions: an Executive Track addressing topics of interest to C-level executives, and a Technology Track with topics of interest for the IT team. During the lunch break we will host a Vendor Fair which will allow attendees to interact one-on-one with our conference sponsors.
